A combination of Glendale Road and Humphrey Road complete a loop access to the Glendale community dating back to the early 1900's. Repeated slides on these steep roads demonstrate the need to keep both roads functioning to provide alternate access.
A washout of Glendale Road in April of 2009 created the need for clean-up, guardrail replacement, slope stabilization, and per mitigation, stream restoration.
A large contingent of county crew and local contractors supported the immediate clean-up efforts, removing mud and debris from the roadway and surrounding area. A contractor was hired to replace the sections of damaged guardrail. County crews completed slope stabilization through armoring, spiral nails, and gabion walls. Stream restoration was required by the Department of Ecology as mitigation for emergency work done prior to permitting. The stream restoration was performed by a contractor.
