Wishkah Road is the only arterial on the County road system and carries over 1500 vehicles per day at the proposed culvert replacement location. Flooding is a major concern at many locations on the lower Wishkah Road, below the Wishkah River Bridge. The culvert at milepost 4.3 is one of the locations that floods frequently, multiple times per year. The flooding is caused by both an undersized culvert that can't handle moderate rain events and backwater from the Wishkah River during flood events. The proposal is to install a larger structure that can handle large rain events and to raise the profile of the road to reduce the frequency and severity of flooding caused by backwater from the Wishkah River.
