This project supports existing funding for flood reduction provided by the King County Flood Control District to remove undersized culverts on 1st Creek in and around the Muckleshoot Indian reservation. This program was created to solve current roadway flooding that causes isolation of homes and communities.
This undersized pipe also impacts fish migration and restricts flow, which causes flooding to regularly occur on numerous surrounding properties and the roadway. Replacement of this pipe with a fish passable structure will remove one of the last known impediments along this stream system (1st Creek) and will compliment other recent investments for in stream habitat improvements made near this project.
