This project will improve Wenatchee Heights Road (12990), a Rural Minor Collector that serves as the main access to the Wenatchee Heights area from the city of Wenatchee. The road serves residential and school bus traffic, orchardists and outdoor enthusiasts and experiences heavy truck traffic during cherry and apple harvests. The project will connect with two other county road projects, closing the gap between the two improved road sections. The beginning of the project will connect to the Wenatchee Heights Road Improvement Project (CRP 702), which received RATA funding and was completed in 2020. The end of the project connects to the Stemilt Loop Road Phase III Project (CRP 664), which also received RATA funding and was completed in 2014.
The project’s primary purpose is to prevent further deterioration of the existing roadway and to maintain it at the least possible lifecycle cost. In addition to using full-depth reclamation to recycle and rebuild the roadway, the project will investigate settlement areas and provide other safety improvements, such as the mitigation of clear zone hazards and the installation of guardrail.
