North Wenas Road is a Major Collector with a daily vehicle count of 1,740. The road serves the Wenas Vally and provides recreational access to the nearby Cascade Mountains.
Before improvement, the roadway was narrow with a failing surface. The vertical alignment suffered inadequate sight distance and the sharp horizontal curve was substandard.
The RAP funded project improvements widened the roadway to 12 ft though lanes and 8 ft paved shoulders. The defficient horizontal and vertical alignment was improved to meet current, safe design standards. The project also replaced the functionally obsolete bridge over Wenas Creek.
