The reconstruction of Clodfelter Road and realigning of Locust Grove Road completed a farm to market corridor that now allows the farm semi-trucks to haul via the newly completed Intertie Road built by Benton County (which is now State Highway SR397), both road systems now which keeping trucks from having to haul thru the middle of Kennewick as they transport goods from the agricultural area known as the Horse Heaven Hills to the Port of Pasco.
Locust Grove was a gravel road with steep grades an switch backs and was therefore avoided by loaded trucks. With the improvements to alignment and grade the farm trucks now use the road to access SR397, thereby eliminating their need to haul thru Kennewick. Clodfelter Road also had steep grades and sharp curves which were eliminated. These two roads now combine as a safe and effective freight haul corridor for trucks.
The farmers up on the Horse Heaven area say "what a great route that is now", and that "it saves them time, and headaches".
