This section of 7 - NE is a major collector for residents & agriculture NE of Moses Lake. There is also a higher volume of truck traffic due to growth of the Port of Moses Lake industrial area.
The old BST roadway was too narrow and was deteriorating. Widening was needed, as well as hoot mix asphalt surfacing and guardrail upgrades.
Basic widening was accomplished on the first mile of the project, and the last 2 miles was entirely rebuilt. The public appreciates the wider roadway, the larger radii on intersections, and have mentioned that it is now better for bicycles.
