Hannegan Road, is a high volume rural major collector that functions primarily as a North/South Arterial for Whatcom County.
This pavement rehabilitation project addressed structural conditions such as severe cracking, raveling, rutting and settlement throughout the limits of the project on this high volume, goods & freight roadway.
Over 4 miles of Hannegan was resurfaced with Hot Mix Asphalt - ½ inch, that involved milling of existing the existing HMA in floodplain areas, and overlay in others. In addition, severe pavement settlement at two bridge approaches was corrected using light weight fill. Public feedback was minimal both during construction and after, but typically positive when provided.
