Parpala Road is a minor collector roadway that connects State Route 101 (the Long Beach Peninsula - Long Beach/Ilwaco area) to the community of Naselle. Used by the locals with many new residential homes constructed on this roadway, the road also provides as a detour from State Route 6 and State Route 4.
The section of roadway is narrow (17') and needs pavement rehabilitation. The slide area is approximately 250 feet in length and it poses a safety risk given the close proximity to the river, the high speed, loaded trucks, and cars that share this roadway throughout the year.
The Parpala Road Project included slide correction of two perpetual slide areas in close proximity to the Naselle River. The county forces excavating and repaired the slide area stabilizing the roadway and widened it to the traveling public. The Local residents on Naselle have been most appreciative.
